Tennis has become the most preferred sports among youngsters. Some take tennis as their passions as well as profession. For playing or practicing any game, the most significant thing to be remembered is having the perfect sports equipment for the particular game. The single most vital piece of equipment in tennis is a tennis racquet. The quality of a tennis racket depends upon its strings, weight, material used, etc.

While selecting string for a tennis racquet, there are four factors which should be considered. These four factors are string construction, string tension, string material and string gauge.
These strings of a tennis racquet are responsible for the contact with the ball. The strings are woven inside the hoop or the head of the racquet. Strings are made of various materials and hold diverse properties which can be measured; such as properties which include dynamic stiffness, tension retention, thickness (gauge), and rebound efficiency. There are various brands of tennis strings such as ASHAWAY strings, BABOLAT strings, DUNLOP strings, GAMMA strings, FISCHER strings, GOSEN strings, HEAD strings, KRISCHBAUM strings, LUXILON strings, PRINCE strings, TECNIFIBRE strings, VOLKL strings, WILSON strings and YONEX strings. On the basis of material, tennis strings can be classified into various types like Natural Gut, Synthetic Gut, Multi-filament, or “Multi” Nylon, Polyester, Kevlar, Vectran, Zyex Polyolefin, Metal wire, Reading the gauge.
A few qualities of these materials are:- Natural gut: the most costly as it is constructed from animal intestines. These strings are best for tour tennis professionals but they can simply get worse with humidity and water. Nylon: quite reasonable and appropriate for frivolous or sporty players. Polyester: long-lasting in comparison of natural gut but have lesser performance, and fewer power Kevlar: tough and inflexible. Usually strung with at a 10% reduction in tension A tennis string can be constructed in different ways like Mono, Ribbon, Multifilament, CWW and CW. The gauge thickness also matters in the quality of the tennis string. The 15-gauge thickness is the thickest string available in the market. Its chilling chorus tells it all — “The cell is cold as hell/you’ll never get use to the smell/my bed is hard as wood/I got to fight to keep my manhood.” The riveting saga doesn’t just end — the fade is lengthy and features a dejected Paul woefully mourning about the conditions, the situation, and the turmoil of prison life. He sounds believable and frustrated belting “Me & Mrs. Jones,” a classic that many relate to, and those who don’t have no problem being down with the passionate singing and clawing lyrics describing the unapologetic infidelity. His “It’s Too Late” is a fine rendition of Carole King’s classic. You might not recognize “Let’s Stay Together,” popularized by Al Green. Paul does it MOR/jazz style, with a lot of improvising before crooning the original lyrics. It shows versatility, but people who bought “Jones” probably didn’t appreciate it. A version of Elton John’s “Your Song” introduced the Britisher to fans of soul music. A Little More Time: The Very Best of Chairmen of the Board $15.98 There are many Chairmen of the Board compilations, but this generous 36-track double-disc set gets it right. The band’s catalog is much deeper than the title track and “You Got Me Dangling on a String,” the vocal quartet’s — later threesome’s — biggest hits and timeless soul classics. The two-CD package covers their 1969-1974 history in chronological order, tacking on some solo performances from lead singers General Johnson and Danny Woods. Despite being one of the first signings to ex-Motown songwriters Holland-Dozier-Holland’s Invictus label, the trio did not compose most of the Chairmen’s early material. That was farmed out to the Ronald Dunbar/Edith Wayne partnership. Frontman General Johnson then picked up the songwriting reins around 1971 — self-penned music was a rarity among soul vocal group acts of that time — and disc two is loaded with his contributions, with 12 out of its 18 tracks written or co-written by Johnson. Not surprisingly, the earliest material is Motown-oriented, but what makes the music noteworthy is the rotation of lead vocalists. The set is notable due to excellent remastering and its ability to dig deeper into the Chairmen’s catalog due to its extended length. That’s especially apparent in the Sly Stone-penned “Life and Death in G & A, Pts. 1-2,” a nifty — if dated — psychedelic soul suite that is usually truncated on other collections. Most impressive, though, is the Chairmen’s diversity, restlessly shifting from sweet-and-sour soul to grinding funk, rousing gospel, lovely ballads, pop, swamp rock, and even a convincing Chicago blues romp, “Weary Traveler,” played as raw and tough as many established blues bands. Better yet, there aren’t many missteps throughout this compilation’s two-hour playing time. The orchestration, overblown production, and extended spoken word section of Burt Bacharach’s “Only Love Can Break a Heart” seem to aim for Isaac Hayes’ Hot Buttered Soul territory and teeter near pretension, but otherwise… |

Achtung! German Grooves $18.99 Any number of compilations in recent years have worked to exhume the simultaneously slick as hell and utterly weird amount of German funk recordings that flooded their home market in the late ’60s and early ’70s. Achtung! German Grooves provides another dollop of this with liner notes, clear sound, and more, though admittedly a lot of the fascination with this material lies in how well they ape American efforts in particular — which tends to make one want to listen to that instead. But Achtung! does have a big advantage in that all the offerings are strictly instrumental, meaning that there’s no schlager-style awfulness clogging up the performances (as anyone who has heard such things can testify, a little goes a long way — too long). Familiar names abound in this compilation, including Peter Thomas and James Last, while plenty of new or at least fairly obscure ones crop up. The end result is one long romp through sounds that practically beg to be soundtracking the opening credits in contemporary wacky spy movies or bizarre sex comedies (or, as is likely the case, both). Nearly everything has a clean precision that may seem antithetical to funk as such, but if you take the principle that Kraftwerk were so stiff they were funky, most everything on here makes a lot more sense as a result. The secret weapon nearly song for song and artist for artist are the horn sections — hyper-frenetic, slow and sassy, somewhere in between. Meantime, nearly every selection has a strange curve ball somewhere in the middle — the whizzing synth noises collapsing into a sweet flute melody on Gerhard Narholz’s swaggering “UFO Invasion,” Thomas’ killer touch at adding a swooping string section to “Chariots of the Gods.” At worst, selections are pleasant-sounding time-killers that inevitably call ’70s cop shows to mind; at best, they’re insanely great. ~ Ned Raggett, Rovi |

Alcohol Fueled Brewtality Live!! $17.98 Former Ozzy Osbourne axe-slinger Zakk Wylde rose to international guitar acclaim for the better part of the 1990s after helping co-author Ozzy’s No Rest for the Wicked, No More Tears, and Ozzmosis. From there, Wylde formed Pride and Glory, a Southern-fried combo that released a disc and then yielded the hammer and thunder of Black Label Society, whose incorrigible, heavyweight riffs and rhythms are showcased here on the band’s completely live, un-overdubbed Alcohol Fueled Brewtality Live!! Most of the material resides somewhere between the chugging, lugubrious redneck metal of Pantera and labelmates Crowbar, and the more Southern approach of latter-day Corrosion of Conformity — in other words, super-heavy, down-tuned riffage. What obviously sets this apart is Wylde’s lightning-fast leads and sheer six-string ability. The songs may be little more than basic collections of riffs, and Wylde far too often entreats the crowd to “make some f*cking noise!” but this is a testosterone-fueled sound often rejected by the mainstream press and heartily embraced by an aggressive listenership. Black Label Society does this as well as anyone out there, and it’s heartening to see four guys on a stage hammering it out, riff by riff, beat by beat. Add Wylde’s raw, bluesy baritone — at times reminiscent of Jerry Cantrell or Layne Staley — on top of that, and you’ve got a hearty meal. She was discovered by country artist, Bill Anderson in 1963 and signed with RCA Victor Records the following year. Within less than a year, Smith moved from being an Ohio housewife to a country artist with the success of her 1964 eight-week number one single, “Once a Day.” The song was the first debut single by a female country artist to reach #1 on the Billboard country chart. To date, “Once a Day” still holds the record for the most weeks spent as number one by a female country artist. Following “Once a Day”‘s success, Anderson and songwriter, Dallas Frazier helped to write a string of hits for Smith that would continue into the later half of the 1960s and into the 1970s, including “Then and Only Then,” “I Can’t Remember,” “Cincinnati, Ohio,” and “Tiny Blue Transistor Radio.” She would later record for Columbia Records in 1973, which allowed her to record more Gospel material. American Splendor $12.99 Cartoonist Harvey Pekar, whose autobiographical comics serve as the basis for the film American Splendor, and “with a background as a jazz critic since 1959,” contributes appropriately illustrated liner notes to the soundtrack album (some of them contained in the multimedia portion of the enhanced CD accessible by computer) in which he helpfully opines that the disc “not only [supports] the film’s narrative action, but [is] a collection of entertaining and substantive performances that could stand by themselves without reference to the film’s narrative flow.” He also informs listeners that composer Mark Suozzo’s score, which is sampled in two brief excerpts, “does what a lot of good film music is supposed to do, support the onscreen action without drawing undue attention to itself.” (Doubtless Pekar also has reviewed the film itself somewhere, but that is not our concern.) Having gotten these major judgments out of the way, a more independent listener can add that the various-artists collection is a combination of acoustic jazz by the likes of Jay McShann, Dizzy Gillespie, and John Coltrane (the Atlantic Records recording of “My Favorite Things”), with a couple of string band re-creations by cartoonist turned musician R. Crumb, two recordings of the soul hit “Ain’t That Peculiar,” the original by Marvin Gaye, and one by Chocolate Genius, and the aforementioned score excerpts, which are also in an acoustic jazz mode.
